Family of Foreigners.

I told Brian that I didn't want to go out, no drinking/ partying for me. About twenty minutes later I caved. "Okay Brian, I will go.. BUT we are just going to sit and not talk to anyone"
Needless to say 3 hours later I had made about 11 friends. Brian and I were separated later in the night. I went off with my groupie of friends and him with a scottish lad named Darren.
We were reunited at the flat later that night :
I met him at the elevator and was like... sooooooo.... we have new friends..  hahah *nervous laugh*  "okay.. cool"
" Yupp- they are all in our apartment"
"Sweet! but Bracken...... I lost my keys. "
"What?! ,.. thats ok. we have new friends - "
" no seriously i don't know where they are.. "
"one is from ireland and there is one from here in glasgow-and then the rest are from ALL over france.. "
"Bracken! my keys.. "
" Its okay.. just come in! "

Ten minutes passed, I did all the introductions and then Brian comes out of his room with his keys. Yupp. he didn't even take them. HAH.

This was probably one of the funnest nights I've had in a long time. My new friends wanted to play a drinking game- sadly my repertoire of these is very limited. Sooo.. with a box of fridge magnets (like  200 words) I made up the game that you had to make sentences in english. If it didn't make sense - you had to drink. So twenty minutes later the game was getting pretty fun as the drunk frenchies continued to write things like " the passion for your image is procrastinate."

We visited our friends Marion, Hugo, Thomas, Kevin and Alexandre  again yesterday. Brian felt the need to correct the pronunciation of his name.. " Bwyon" .... "no.. its BrIAn" ..."BWYon" .." no.. BRIAN"... "BWWWWWYYYYOONNNN"

Glasgow- the beginning.

"Can a four year old drive here?!".. I ask, as the little boy parks his honda and gets out..  His mother fair and blonde as blonde can be jumps out of the passenger side. Blinking- I just stare in disbelief for a second as my brain slowly works out that cars drive on the OTHER side of the road. and even though the silver honda came down the one way and parked on the familiar and correct side of the road..  the steering wheel was in fact on the mother's side. Also catching me by surprise are the cars that are magically driving themselves. I look in the window and there is only someone in the "passenger side". You'd think this would be an easy thing to get used to- the scottish driving on the wrong side- but it really gets ya!

Also, I feel like this may be my last post... the next one will be a message saying " Bracken has been in an unfortunate accident".....R.I.P..... "She was standing on the sidewalk leaned forward a little to look for cars and was beheaded by the Nascar- bus drivers.".... " had she only crossed a little sooner a  hot rod sized-toyota may have hit her straight on and only injured her.." .."to be so lucky..."

But seriously there is no such thing as
 1) J-walking- nope! if you can run fast now is as good as time as ever to cross the street. Im sorry but granny over estimated her quick jog .. may she rest in peace.
2) Pedestrians have the right of way-  Bahaha.. hah. thats funny.  it is true if you are on your way to heaven.
3) a nice slow stroll- YES! this one can exist.. You need to take it to that sketchy dark alley though. there is no room for slow walkers on the main street. your heels will be stepped on, bruised, maybe broken?!
4) The nice countdown timer at intersections- nope . now you can walk/ now you cant ***vrooooom***

these are just some of the things I've learned so far. :)

see ya later bloggers!!

Last day in my hometown..

So, I have never "blogged" before.. this is a first. What I do know is that wine and Vegan currie make a fabulous good-bye dinner! I guess I need to give more detail as to why my meal was vegan (no- I have not converted) however .. the G-pa from vancouver came up to say his good-byes. After three heart attacks my grandpa did in fact convert to the beans and rice diet. Let it be known that since he has been up in Peace River the family have taken to becoming musical instruments. Even Grandma likes to "toot" her melody out at night.
